Dare to upgrade to my x11 packages without any of my advice? Well heres some: As well as both x11 packages and libxcb, you need to install/upgrade pango, fontconfig, freetype, gtk2, glib2, cairo and glitz. A boatload of non-free freetype fonts are included in the x11-fonts package, sssssssh. psh.... These packages do away with the old /usr/X11R6 setup. X11 only tested with binary NVIDIA drivers, FGLRX should work fine but hasn't been tested by me. All other drivers and native language support has been removed as well as other bloat that is useless to most. Evdev support and other major important modules are included. The Xorg memory leak that plagues 7.2.0 has been patched. X11/cairo are patched to make use of the new Freetype cleartype subpixel font rendering. Compiled with i686 cflags, don't dare use on anything prior. Libtool (*.la) archives in current slackware setups have many /usr/X11R6/lib references that need to be changed to /usr/lib. Some "perl pie" can fix this easily. Until you do, most X11 lib related things wont compile. Slackware 11/current only people, for heavens sake. Don't blame my packages for breaking your system if you do, I built these packages strictly for my own needs, and they work fine, and a couple friends had no trouble with them either, but remember the junk I removed might just be your treasure as well. I'm always open to fixes, suggestions and additions of things I removed if they are of any help to you.
